As we finish wrapping up our Dream Makers Program, SNIPES and Nike continue to work together to make dreams come true in 20 different cities. The newly set up Community Task Force, which includes more than 30 district managers and regional directors from across the country, SNIPES resumed with the Dream Maker Program. This committed group worked very hard to turn dreams into reality for communities of all sizes.
Here’s a small recap of the five most recent dreams.
Trina Meet and Greet & Dream Makers recipient Kaniesha:
Trina honored us with a visit to the We The Best Store on Collins Street in Miami, where she made memorable encounters for her fans. At the same time, Dream Makers winner Kaniesha received generous presents from our initiative – she received many gifts, a complete video-making set, and a new computer. Having these materials, Kaniesha is ready to lift her YouTube channel higher, motivating people with her creative spirit and enthusiasm.
BronxWorks Community Center:
The Community Center in the Bronx, run by BronxWorks, had an event recently to make the area more beautiful. It showed they wanted to improve the neighborhood. At this Dream Maker moment, BronxWorks and our team worked to help close the technology difference and give power to kids at the Carolyn McLaughlin Community Center. By working together, we created new chances for every child by showing them technology projects that could influence their tomorrows.
Studio Diva Dance Studio Donation:
Studio Diva Dance Studio got a big gift recently! The women of the studio were sent out to the spa for some self-care time while the studio was filled with eager expectations for the upcoming improvements. These improvements will change the space into an even more lively area suitable for dance, exercise, and yoga. Get ready to diva the house down boots!
Slice of Excellence Program in NY:
In New York, the program called Slice of Excellence has been creating excitement by encouraging good school performance with a tasty prize – pizza. Working with Slice of Excellence, we celebrated with these students who earned a slice because they showed great effort and commitment.
Ninos Hero – Public Schools in Chicago:
At Ninos Hero Public Schools in Chicago, we have started an exciting project that focuses on giving power to 8th-grade students by teaching them how to customize sneakers. We worked with Published Studios for a workshop where the students had the chance to show off their individuality by designing their own shoes.
With projects such as the Dream Maker Program, efforts to make our communities look better, and teaching sessions; we’re doing more than just meeting basic needs – we’re also creating chances for hope and new possibilities later.
