Designed by Latin Americans and in partnership with Pangea Sound, Converse showcases its dedication to uplifting the community through its societal commitment, an effort that is aimed at creating accessibility to spaces within innovation, emotional support, and by building career paths for young Latin Americans. By partnering with eight organizations – Inner City Arts, Zumix, Las Fotos Project, Boyle Heights Conservatory, Homeboy Art Academy, Chica Project, Legacy LA and Hyde Square Task Force – Converse strengthens the meaning of support, during and outside of Hispanic Heritage month.
To further honor Hispanic Heritage Month, on October 15, SNIPES and Converse partnered to create Street Dreams Presents “Mi Gente” – an exhibition featuring a curated installment of photography, music, art and food in Brooklyn, NY. Harlem’s own DJ Odalys – an entrepreneur, model, DJ and pillar of the community – set the scene by performing her ingenious creative and musical talent. Presenting and showcasing local artisans and celebrating culture and community, this event represented not only Converse’s commitment to the Latin American community but SNIPES’ as well.
Converse caries this legacy through their Chuck 70 and Chuck Taylor All Star silhouettes from this “¡Mi Gente, Mi Alegria!” collection. Both draw inspiration from culture and traditions, art, music, food and family, which can be seen through the tile-patterned detailing, papel picado-inspired graphics, the turquoise laces and “¡Mi Gente, Mi Alegria!” reinforced and printed throughout.
