On September 19th, Snipes hosted a Meet & Greet event at the Brooklyn Flatbush Ave location, with Epic Records recording artist, Scar Lip. Scar Lip made a name for herself in the spring of 2023 with the release of “This Is New York”, which continued to grow, with the music video hitting the two million mark on YouTube, and the song itself almost reaching half a million streams on Spotify alone. You may have seen her at the 2023 BET Awards during Busta Rhymes Lifetime Achievement Honoree Tribute, or you may know her for her many achievements and contributions. Among these achievements, she was the keynote speaker for LA County Foster Youth Graduation in June of 2023, was featured in Complex’s Vol 004 “Women Are Saving NY”, and was in XXL’s Summer 2023 Print Issue As “Artist to Watch”.
Scar Lip plans to release her debut album, Scars & Stripes, which will be a deep dive into the ups and downs of her life. She grew up in the foster care system after losing her mother at the age of 12, and she later began to go viral on Instagram after sharing a collection of singles and spoken word poetry with her followers. She was discovered by SWIZZ BEATZ and is ready to take over the rap scene.
She collaborated with Snipes as a community partner to support 15 kids from The Door’s Bronx Youth Center who were invited for an exclusive shopping experience and intimate moment with the rapper. The Door, a non-profit organization, offers comprehensive services to New York City teens and young adults, providing everything from healthcare, legal assistance, and educational and career development, all under one roof. The event offered an experience for the youth in attendance to feel inspired by the success of someone who once faced similar challenges and adversity. The energy at our Barclays store for this event was truly unmatched!
